When a bond is made between you and an animal, it is always a beautiful thing. Just consider the many memories you have shared and the many hurdles you have gone over. For sure, it is a great story a few years down the line when you tell how you met and the likes. As we read on, we will understand animals are not just as we see them but family.
Just imagine going 14 years with a dog and having to say goodbye for whatever reason. This is the case of a homeless man who met a pup when they were pretty younger. They had developed a friendship like no other which everyone admired.
The Moment Fate Hit
It all happened when Mr. Williams got evicted from his home, with only $40 and a few pieces of furniture that could hold in his car. He had to turn up at the Gwinnett County Animal Welfare in Lawrenceville, Georgia to hand him over.
One of the shelter workers noted the whole ordeal was a bit depressing. The dog was obviously the guy’s shotgun rider.
“He had no items in sight and that only meant the hand over was going to be painful”, the worker added.
The fact that he handed him over to the shelter showed just how much he loved him. He wanted the dog to be able to enjoy his older days in comfort knowing he had nowhere to keep him. A more stable home was what he wanted for his dog Lucky. The two certainly had a bond like no other.
A Heart-Wrenching Goodbye
When Mr. Williams completed the paperwork and was handing him over, the tears started flowing. Everyone including the workers was so emotional as they bid farewell. What he told the sad dog, however, was the most heart-wrenching.
“We were young when we came together. Now, we’re both old men. Be a good boy, Lucky. I’ll be back for you”. These were the exact words the teary-eyed Williams told the dog. But for such an emotional act, was that really going to be the final turnout?
A Ray Of Hope
Well, it all happened the deputy director of the Community Services Department was present for the whole experience. The Director heard about the story and was prompted to do something about it.
“He got on my phone right away to see what he could do to help. He got to the Senior Services Department to see what resources were available to assist”, the worker said. It was a bit fruitful for Mr. Williams as a hotel room was arranged for him the night. He had nowhere to sleep so the Department and some kind donors helped out immediately.
The next phase of the troubles was to get Lucky a happy home. The story was shared on Facebook and went viral quite quickly. As the post went around, many people came together and decided to help the man and his best friend. By the next day, a man showed up at the shelter to fetch Lucky. He wanted to give him a quiet and comfortable home until Williams was back on his feet.
Williams is still in shock as to how humanity is really evident. He can’t believe he is the one on the receiving end of all these blessings. He is thanking God for having come to his rescue from the moment he got put out.
Share this amazing story of love and support to let others know humanity is very much alive.
